Live flowers, which are the basis of our flower arrangements, belong to the class of products that require special and proper care. For flower delivery in Bangkok, we use modern methods of preserving the freshness of buds and stems. Depending on the class of the product, flower care is slightly different, but first we will list general recommendations for flower care in the hot climate of Thailand.
Please use flower care tips from Flowers-Bangkok
Fresh and clean water is the basis for preserving the freshness of any flowers. Therefore, the main rule of care is to regularly change the water in the vase for bouquets.
The second rule is to protect flowers from dry and hot air and drafts. Please do not leave bouquets, baskets or flower boxes on the windowsill in direct sunlight. This significantly reduces the period of preserving fresh flowers. Also, do not place flowers near ventilation openings (including the kitchen hood) and under direct air flows from an air conditioner or fan. These devices contribute to rapid dehydration of flowers and significantly reduce the lifespan of flower arrangements.
The third rule is the correct proximity of flowers and fruits. Ethylene gas, which is released from fruits, is absorbed by leaves and flower buds. And this process accelerates the wilting of plants even with a sufficient amount of fresh water.
The optimal place for maintaining the freshness of flowers for as long as possible is a cool room with no direct sunlight or air currents. And regular spraying of buds with water mist will further extend the life of flowers. An additional factor in increasing the lifespan of flowers is the use of a humidifier in the room (preferably without the use of aromatic fragrances).
Tips for proper care of flower bouquets
Our flower delivery service in Bangkok uses special protection for flower stems during delivery. A special moist environment located in the area of the lower part of the stems under the decorative wrapping of the bouquet allows to keep the flowers fresh during delivery. Also, our florists spray flowers with water and use transport film for delivery of bouquets in Bangkok during the hot season or at the hottest time of the day. Such protection allows to keep the freshness of bouquets in wrapping for up to 2 days, but we recommend placing the bouquet in a vase on the day of delivery of flowers.
Please make sure that you use a thoroughly washed vase (bacteria on the inside of the vase negatively affect the lifespan of cut flowers). Using a sharp clean knife, make a small trim of each stem (it is better to use a diagonal cut to increase the contact area of the inner surface of the stem with water). The ends of thick stems can be cut a few centimeters lengthwise, splitting them into 2 or 4 parts. Also, be sure to remove all the leaves that are below the water level in the vase. And all the wilting leaves and petals that have fallen into the water should also be removed regularly so that they do not become a source of bacteria. In the future, it is necessary to change the water in the vase at least every 2 days. At the same time, the inner surface of the vase should also be cleaned of plaque, and the stems of the plants can be slightly trimmed.
We remind you that in Flowers-Bangkok flower shop you can order a bouquet of flowers in a glass or ceramic vase, as well as order flower delivery in Bangkok in a classic gift wrap and separately order a vase of a suitable size.
Caring for flowers in baskets and flower boxes
At the bottom of a flower basket or flower (hat) box, our florists place a special floral sponge, thoroughly soaked in water. The stems of flowers and green filler are inserted into the sponge and have constant contact with water. To prevent the basket or box from being damaged by water, the porous sponge is packed in polyethylene. Please note that the sponge may contain less water than a vase. Therefore, on particularly hot days and in rooms with dry air, you may need to add water to the water oasis at the bottom of the box or flower basket twice. In other cases, you need to add water to the sponge once a day.
Remember that the sponge must be evenly soaked in water, otherwise some of the plants may die from lack of moisture (if a flower has dried out or a plant has died, it is better to remove them from the basket or flower box to avoid the spread of bacteria). It is better to use a small amount of water to soak the sponge and carefully monitor that the water is evenly distributed throughout the entire volume of the sponge, but does not spill into the box or basket.
We hope these simple yet effective tips from our head florist in Bangkok will help you keep your flowers looking beautiful and fresh for days to come.
